BEST. SCENE. EVER.

this is a very interesting gif when taken out of context

everyone in the theatre started laughing hysterically and everyone literally clapped; there was a round of applause

In our cinema theatre people stood up and applauded

Africans who deny Black People and Black people who deny Africa. Yall are just such disappointments.

You all are not on any higher Black hierarchy because you decide to claim different roots of blackness. Black came from Africa. Africa is black. These two can never be mutually exclusive. Ever. When people see a black man, they think thug. When people see a Nigerian, they think thief. When people see an Ethiopian, they think poverty. When people see how easily we disown each other, they see a weak group of poverty-inflicted thugs and criminals.

If you’re an Eritrean in Canada, you are fucking BLACK.

If you’re a light skinned Rihanna look-alike in Brazil, youz still an AFRICAN.

You all just look like properly colonized coons, only perpetuating the damaging effects of the slavery/the scramble of Africa. And while you’re spending your time trying to figure out ways to further disattach yourselves from each other, big-time corporations are buying out Africa’s fertile land, causing the starvation of many and those same big-time corporations are placing their stock in jails that our black brothers and sisters are getting locked up in.

It’s all inter-connected. The sooner we realize that we’re the same pawns in the same fucking chess game, the better.

My problem with this post is it completely disregards culture.

American Blacks, Native Africans, and Black Brazilians all share the common bond of dark skin and African blood, but when it comes to culture we are very very different people.

This is not really a “black problem”, American Whites and British Whites will quickly point out their differences. Japanese and Chinese people will quickly correct you if you call them by the wrong name. So why does it turn into a big hoopla when an American Black and an African-born person point out that they are not the same?

Our cultural differences are too big to be swept under the rug for some some vague “we are the world” sense of unity. That doesn’t mean we should be at each other’s throats and completely disown each other, but let’s be realistic.
